Local Law Enforcement
Around fifty cars have been smeared with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.
Vehicles, exterior walls and postal boxes were marked, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they stated in a statement.
Officers report they were notified late on Wednesday night, when a resident discovered that a car in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been covered with a reddish-hued liquid.
The substance had been applied in the form of a Nazi symbol, they reported.
Officers then discovered numerous other marked automobiles and house walls in the nearby vicinity.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under legislation banning the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.
Law enforcement report preliminary tests suggest the liquid was probably human blood.
"There is still no lead as to its source; officials are not yet informed of any injuries in relation with the event," they added.
Local authorities announced they were trying "to unravel the mystery" and have requested to the residents for details.
An important official said the incident left him stunned and needed to be addressed rapidly.
"This act affects the core of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the far-right violent incident in 2020," he stated on social media, referring to the death of nine individuals by a shooter aiming at individuals of foreign heritage in 2020.
